Regarding the censuring of Aspinwall Mayor Scott Zimmermann, let us dive a little deeper into the details of the situation.

Aspinwall Council is made up of seven members, all currently registered Democrats. The mayor himself is a Democrat.

The council voted 5-1 in favor of censuring the mayor with one member recusing herself from the vote. The member who voted against the censure is a close friend of the mayor and a neighbor. No bias there, I assume.

The member who recused herself from the vote altogether is the mayor’s girlfriend. Clearly, no bias there as well.

The deeper issue with some of these aforementioned members of council and the current mayor is they are on a power trip more than anything. They do not care about the community and its residents.

The mayor also never mentioned he ran for office to better the community and the residents of our great town. The first thing he said was he ran because he felt a Democrat was needed to hold the office. At the local level, this is not the first thing you say in defense of yourself when someone asks you why you ran for mayor.

Everyone deserves to know all these truths. Now we will wait and see the next steps in this situation. It is far from over.
