The news regarding the mayor of Aspinwall’s crime and “brain fart” fascinates me.

My thoughts surrounding this predicament were that the act of secretly recording a private meeting, which included borough officials, was a failed attempt at gotcha politics. Mayor Scott Zimmermann failed to find negative information about some participants’ opinions or actions. He did not appear to be a team player.

The mayor confessed to the crime and invoked the Brain Fart Defense. The crime was serious. His reason for the crime was absurd, certainly laughable and an invitation to ridicule our town.

Generations of honest, hardworking people made Aspinwall a charming, attractive, safe, playful and friendly place to live for all ages. Our slogan is The Town That Pride Built.

The mayor’s actions and his supporting Democrats jeopardize this authentic image of Aspinwall. We are at risk of being the town where Democrats believed in the Brain Fart Defense and chose party loyalty over the integrity of the town.

The mayor needs to give an apology to all residents regarding the seriousness of his crime and the worthlessness of his defense.

And he should go!

Jokes and ridicule will be tolerable after this occurs.
