A canned goods drive is happening at Caliente Pizza in Aspinwall.

St. Margaret Foundation is raising money to deliver gift bags to each patient at UPMC St. Margaret on Christmas. It is largely because rising covid-19 cases have necessitated safety precautions that allow only one visitor.

Gift bags will consist of a green organza bag with a Mercury glass votive candle holder and LED light, along with a special holiday message for each patient.

To donate, visit StMargaretFoundation.org/donate.

Canned goods collection at Caliente

Caliente Pizza in Aspinwall is collecting canned goods through Dec. 25 to donate to the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.

For every three items donated, customers will receive a free cheesy bread voucher. Since November, the restaurant has collected several boxes of food to be distributed to the needy.

It is the site’s fourth annual food drive. Items can be dropped off at any Caliente location or given to delivery drivers.

“Too many families are in need this year,” said Nick Bogacz, founder and owner.

“We’re always looking for ways to give back to the community, and we know the holidays are especially a busy time for our local food bank.”

Caliente Pizza is along Commercial Avenue.
