Henry Reinecke, 7, Allison Reinecke, 3, and their father Tom Reinecke, all of Fox Chapel, gather inside an O’Hara public service truck during a Touch-a-Truck event at the township’s community park on July 12.

Henry Reinecke sat pretty comfortably inside one of the large O’Hara public service trucks on a sunny afternoon.

Wearing a plastic firefighter helmet, the 7-year-old Fox Chapel boy leaned back in the passenger seat and stretched his legs toward the dashboard.

Henry was accompanied by his younger sister, Allison, 3, and their father Tom.

It was one of many moments for the family enjoying the township’s Touch-a-Truck event at its community park July 12.

“We wanted to spend some time outside,” said Tom Reinecke. “When they saw the trucks, they were excited.”

Multiple families from the Fox Chapel area and beyond had a chance to check out large work trucks, heavy machinery, police cars and other O’Hara equipment.

Pleasant Valley Volunteer Fire Company brought one of its fire trucks and a lot of plastic helmets.

Township manager Julie Jakubec said it was a great opportunity to showcase what the township uses and have some employees interact with the public while not on a job or an emergency.

The community park along Fox Chapel Road is a major recreation site for O’Hara and hosts various events including the township’s summer movie nights.

“Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” will be shown Aug. 5. Free popcorn will be provided.

Movie in the Park activities start at 8 p.m. with the movie starting at dusk.
