O’Hara resident Ryan Kaufman, 12, created a project called Cookies for a Cause as his bar mitzvah service work.

He sells homemade cookies to raise money for the “Live Like Lou” program for ALS research.

So far, he’s earned half of his $2,000 goal.

Suzanne Alexander of O’Hara and her late husband, Neil, established the fund in 2011 after Neil was diagnosed with ALS.
