Registration open for Shady Side Academy baseball camps

The countdown to spring training is on at Shady Side Academy.

The school is offering a baseball clinic for young players to learn the fundamentals of the game.

Sessions are are aimed at children ages eight to 13, and will be led by former Major League Baseball players, SSA head varsity baseball Coach Jordan Steranka and varsity pitching Coach Chris Peters, along with other SSA assistant coaches and varsity players.

Classes will be 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. March 1 and 8, and 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. March 2 and 9. Cost is $100 for all four sessions or $30 for individual sessions.

Players will practice proper techniques for throwing, catching, fielding, hitting and base running.

Participants are asked to bring a bat, glove, helmet, baseball pants, cleats and tennis shoes.

All skill levels are welcome. Clinics will be outside on the SSA baseball field and inside Curry Gymnasium on the Senior School campus, 423 Fox Chapel Road, Fox Chapel.
