Motorists who travel along Route 28 through O’Hara, Shaler and Sharpsburg should allow for extra time this weekend as there will be single-lane restrictions, PennDOT announced.
Work will happen from 7 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday, opening just in time for weekday rush hour traffic.
Construction will target both directions between Millvale and the Highland Park Bridge and will include concrete patching, bridge deck work and paving.
Off-peak daylight lane restrictions, as well as overnight and weekend work, will also occur occasionally as crews from Gulisek Construction upgrade guide rails, adjust utilities and improve signs. The total project cost is $11.5 million.
Other work will include bridge preservation and slope reestablishment.
Work is expected to last through spring of 2021 and will be coordinated with other projects along Route 28.
Motorists can check the status of the project at 511PA.com.
