Fishing club assists with trout stocking
Members of the Fox Chapel Area High School Fishing Club partnered with the Allison Park Sportsmen’s Club and the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission to stock trout in the Pine Creek Watershed on Oct. 24.
The students and FCAHS teacher and fishing club sponsor Eric Norberg placed trout in the delayed harvest stretch of the creek between Bryant Road and Mt. Royal Boulevard in Allison Park.
Club members participating were: seniors Cian Conry, Jack Lynch, Duncan MacGregor and Owen Ellermeyer; junior Luca Catone; and sophomores Miles Carey and Gino Pototo.
12 students perform in Allegheny County Chorus Festival
Twelve Fox Chapel Area High School students recently participated in the first-ever Allegheny County Chorus Festival.
They are: juniors Josie Giguere, Madeleine Jones, Alaina OKunewick and Rachel Pegher and sophomores Alana Calig, Veda Catone, Daniel DeMotte, Grace Gouwens, John McGough, Faye Muller, Lincoln Rowley, and Niko Vavpetic.
Approximately 200 students performed with the chorus during a festival held Oct. 10 at Gateway High School.
7 students win awards at Model U.N. High School Conference
Seven Fox Chapel Area High School students recently won awards at the University of Pittsburgh Model United Nations High School Conference.
Senior Adhitya Thirumala was named the Best Delegate (equivalent to first place); juniors Etash Jhanji and Arnim Kuchhal won Best Position Paper (equivalent to first place). Senior Connor Mazzoni was named the Outstanding Delegate (equivalent to second place). Junior Swati Mylarappa received an Honorable Mention Position Paper (equivalent to third place), and juniors Benjamin Fiedler and Moonyoung Hwang both received Honorable Mention Delegate (equivalent to third place).
Approximately 385 students from 25 public and private high schools from Pennsylvania and West Virginia competed at the conference held Oct. 24 at the University of Pittsburgh.
