Shady Side Academy sails away with rousing performance of ‘Anything Goes’

Love, hijinks and mayhem on the high seas rounded out a nautical performance of Cole Porter’s “Anything Goes” at Shady Side Academy.

Performances were held Feb. 13-15 at the Richard E. Rauh Theater in the Hillman Center for Performing Arts.

Led by The Gargoyle Society, the student performing arts organization at Shady Side Academy, the group produces, manages and performs in several school productions annually.

The boy-meets-girl story takes place aboard the SS American during the 1930s.

The cast included Oliver Seo as Moonface Martin, Talia Schwartz as Emma, Noah Thompson-Jones as Billy Crocker, Drew Little as Captain, Lily Toma as Mrs. Evangeline Harcourt, Corinne Sample as Hope Harcourt, Torben Clark as Lord Evelyn Oakleigh, Lily Salmond as Angel, Pilar Placci as Angel, Juliet Sykes as Reno Sweeney, and Lindey Brody, Lauren Grand, Ivy Seo, Hanna Singhi, Makayla Miller and Ozge Uzman as Reno’s Angels.

Additional cast members included Avani Agrawal as reporter/ensemble, Kristen Appleman as FBI/Hope US/ensemble, Monique Fosung in ensemble, Hazel Freemann in ensemble, Zoe Freyberg as Dippy, May Gao in ensemble, Alexandra Hoe as Sailor Quartet/ensemble, Mikayla Hornezes in ensemble, Ryan Huang as Spit, Peter Huang as the Rev. Henry T. Dobson/Sailor/ensemble, Vivienne Jablonski in ensemble, Maryn Lang in ensemble, Ziling Li as Photographer/ensemble, Anna Litster as Sailor/ensemble, Violet McGuigan in ensemble, Lena Patel as Young Swell/ensemble, Eira Pathe in ensemble, Isabelle Pitt in ensemble, Stella Platt in ensemble, Harika Reddy in ensemble, Allison Silverman as FBI/ensemble, Amelia Sun in ensemble, Britney Sun in ensemble, Iyla Tadikamalla in ensemble, Angela Tu in ensemble, Oliver Wang as Elisha Whitney, David Wang as Purser/ensemble and Sylvie Will in ensemble.

The show was directed by Dek Ingraham choreographed by Amanda Olmstead.
