Sharpsburg Council plans to meet Saturday, April 9, 2022, in a special session.

Sharpsburg Council will conduct a special public meeting Saturday night to address several issues, one of which involves the hiring of an interim borough manager in a closed-door session instead of a public vote.

Council last month introduced former Crescent Township administrator Jason Dailey as the temporary replacement of former manager Bill Rossey, who left the job mid-March.

However, there was never a formal vote at a public session to hire Dailey, which is a possible violation of the state’s Sunshine Act, which requires council votes to be conducted in open session before the public.

According to the special meeting agenda posted on the borough’s website, council will “consider the contract for professional interim management services” during the meeting scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday, April 9 at borough offices, 1611 Main St. The meeting is open to the public.

Other items listed on the special meeting announcement for action include a memorandum of understanding for the Allegheny Shores development, as well as a grant application for roadway infrastructure of the development.
