On a high note

The Pittsburgh Concert Chorale is back together after 18 months apart and will give three holiday concerts, including one in Fox Chapel.

“Nothing compares to the sound of live music, and we are so enjoying singing in person again,” Music Director Dr. Susan Medley shared at a recent Board of Directors meeting. “We are committed to keeping everyone safe as we rehearse and are following the most recent guidelines for choral singing.”

This year’s ‘s Sounds of the Season concerts feature seasonal classics, beloved carols, and Christmas and Hanukkah favorites. Concerts take place at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 3; and at 4 p.m. Dec. 5, at Ingomar United Methodist Church, 1501 W. Ingomar Rd.; and 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 4, at Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church, 384 Fox Chapel Rd.

Individual concert tickets are available for purchase in advance or at the door. Prices are: Adults — $20 ($23 at the door); students — $8; and no admission cost for children 11 and under. All tickets, including group sales and subscriptions, may be ordered online at www.pccsing.org or by calling 412-635-7654.

Glittering and still glowing

The Fox Chapel Garden Club will host its annual holiday floral celebration on Dec. 8, but with a twist.

The event will be outdoors and safe-distance measures will be in place in sheltered areas. Traditionally the event has been held indoors at the Fox Chapel Golf Club.

The club’s Glitter, Shiver and Glow event will offer crafts, floral arrangements, bulbs and house plants and more for sale in the open air at Allegheny RiverTrail Park. The hours are 4-7 p.m. Organizers urge people to dress for the weather.

Admission is $10 and proceeds go to support the Garden Club’s mission and community efforts.

Advent gathering

Hampton Presbyterian Church is hosting an Advent Soup Supper, which is traditionally held on the first day of Advent each year.

This year’s event is Nov. 28 starting at 5 p.m. People are asked to bring their favorite crock pot of soup and two dozen cookies to share. Some people bring a muffin tin to try many soups at once.

Devotional booklets will be available to guide people through Advent, a time of preparation for the birth of Jesus Christ.
