SSA Middle School in Fox Chapel presented 'Frozen Jr.'
Shady Side Academy Middle School presented its 2023 winter student musical Disney’s “Frozen JR.’ on Feb. 22-23.
“Frozen Jr.” is a story of love and acceptance between sisters. When faced with danger, Princesses Anna and Elsa discover their hidden potential and the powerful bond of sisterhood.
The cast and crew featured 30 students in grades 6-8. Featured roles included eighth graders: Eva Friedlander of Squirrel Hill as Anna; Ava Jochims of Richland as Elsa; Zoe Freyberg of Squirrel Hill as Olaf; Noah Thompson-Jones of Highland Park as Kristoff; Joseph Snyder of Aspinwall as Hans, and Ellie Laman of Hampton as Sven.
Sixth graders Maryn Lang of Squirrel Hill and Sylvie Will of Fox Chapel played Young Anna and Young Elsa, and seventh graders Pilar Placci of Indiana Township and Lauren Grand of Leet played Middle Anna and Middle Elsa.
Other students in the cast were: Giovanni Gasper of Hazelwood; Julie Nogueria of Fox Chapel; Kristen Appleman of Fox Chapel; Özge Uzman of Hampton; Amari Pamplin of McKees Rocks; JP Meyers of Millvale; Allen Hoe of Hampton; Anna Litster of Squirrel Hill; Leanne Li of Pine; Emily Lin of Franklin Park; Violet McGuigan of O’Hara; Isabelle Pitt of Hampton; Sia Asher of Pine; Brie Butler of Wilkinsburg; Caitlynn Covington of Penn Hills; Shawn Khan of Wilkins, Makenna Kokladas of Hampton, Amelia Sun of Fox Chapel and Elizabeth Teslovich of Belle Vernon.
Eighth grader Bella DeSanctis of Point Breeze was the stage manager. Music teacher Randy Broker directed the show; staff member Kristan Fisher was music director and choreographer, art teachers Stefanie Vorrasi and Natalie Potts were set and costume designers.
