A final proposal likely will be presented in April.

Lower Valley towns named Banner Communities

Aspinwall, Fox Chapel, Indiana Township, O’Hara and Sharpsburg were designated Banner Communities for their transparency, public outreach, finances and other items. The awards come from the Allegheny League of Municipalities.

Indiana Township has been named a Banner Community since the program’s inception nine years ago.

County executive Rich Fitzgerald said despite the stress of the pandemic, the Banner Communities have continued to serve the residents in a way that sets them apart.

Little Free Panty opens at Sharpsburg Community Library

People in need of food can pick up a variety of nonperishable items from a new Little Free Pantry outside the entrance to the Sharpsburg Community Library on Main Street.

Staff said the pantry will complement existing services by being accessible any time, day or night.

People who want to donate food and toiletries to help keep the pantry stocked can drop off items inside the site during regular hours.
