A Greensburg man was arrested by city police this week, charged with raping an unconscious woman after a party last month.
Emmanuel Lebbie, 24, was arraigned Tuesday on charges of rape of an unconscious victim and sexual assault in connection with the 6:52 a.m. Sept. 28 incident that police say occurred in an apartment along Alwine Avenue.
Lebbie was arraigned before District Judge Chris Flanigan and ordered held in the Westmoreland County Prison after failing to post $150,000 bond.
The woman told Detective Charles Irvin that she was drinking with acquaintances at a friend’s residence, but felt she had too many drinks and decided not to join them when they went to a nearby bar.
According to court documents, the woman said she went to sleep in her friend’s bedroom and woke up in the middle of an altercation between Lebbie and a male acquaintance.
“She awoke and found herself naked from the waist down,” Irvin said.
The male acquaintance told investigators that he returned to the apartment from the bar and was speaking with friends outside, but could not locate Lebbie, who had been seated on the couch when returning from the bar. The man told police he found the bedroom door was locked and noise coming from inside.
The man told police that “he used a quarter to unlock the door … and saw (Lebbie) with his pants down and (the woman) unconscious and naked from the waist down,” Irvin said.
Irvin said an altercation ensued and Lebbie subsequently left the residence. The woman was taken to the hospital.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 24 before Flanigan.
