Hampton Council appoints new municipal manager
Hampton’s first new municipal manager in 37 years arrives with a ringing endorsement from his soon-to-be-former boss.
Ryan Jeroski, who will succeed Christopher Lochner in Hampton, has been assistant manager in Peters Township for seven-plus years.
“He’s an integral part of our administration. He’s going to be sorely missed and difficult to replace,” Paul Lauer, municipal manager in Peters, said. “Hampton Township is getting somebody who is very much prepared to lead a community.”
During a special meeting on Sept. 13, Hampton council unanimously approved the advertisement of an ordinance establishing a memorandum of understanding of terms and conditions of employment for Jeroski. The memorandum calls for base salaries of $140,000 for 2024 and $145,000 for 2025.
All council members subsequently voted to appoint Jeroski as municipal manager effective Feb. 2, the day after Lochner’s retirement. Jeroski actually will start his employment in Hampton on Nov. 6 to gain experience prior to the transition.
A native of Oakmont, Jeroski worked as the borough’s assistant manager and secretary from 2012 until his hiring by Peters in 2016. There, he serves as chief financial officer and performs functions including project management, grant writing, policy development and oversight of the hiring process, along with being township staff’s liaison to the Environmental Quality Board.
“The thing about Ryan is that he’s not only skilled in terms of knowledge and with regard to municipal management. He has his heart in the right place, too,” Lauer said. “He’s always been focused on doing the right thing for our community.”
Jeroski earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from Westminster College and master’s from the University of Pittsburgh’s Graduate School of Public and International Affairs. He was a project manager in the Philadelphia area before returning to Western Pennsylvania for the Oakmont position.
Locher joined Hampton’s staff in September 1986 after serving as borough manager in Edgewood.
