Hampton High School Marching Band scores pair of first-place finishes

The Hampton High School Marching Band has enjoyed a fine start to the season by earning two first-place finishes in its opening competitions with the show “Senior Prom: A Night to Dismember.”

Hampton took first place by capturing the overall highest score in both Pennsylvania Interscholastic Marching Band Association competitions at Baldwin on Sept. 17, with a score of 78.55, and at Deer Lakes on Oct. 8, with a score of 85.1.

Additionally, Hampton won caption areas for Best Visual, Best Music, and Best General Effect.

The 130 members of the Hampton High School Marching Band are led by drum majors Brooks Brady, Kai Suyama and Samantha Nicely.

Music featured in the show includes the main theme from “Beetlejuice” by Danny Elfman; “Danse Macabre” by Camille Saint-Saens; “Heads Will Roll” by Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs; “A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri; and Sweet’s rock classic “Ballroom Blitz,” written by Nicky Chinn and Mike Chapman.
