Hampton hosts Community Day July 3
Hampton Township will hold its annual Community Day on July 3. This year’s event will once again offer food, entertainment and fireworks.
“Hampton Community Day is a tradition that many residents look forward to each year. It is an opportunity for people to get together and enjoy fireworks close to home,” said Melanie Martino, township parks and recreation programs administrator.
Community Day represents a stress-free and relaxing environment for most Hampton residents, but for those who organize the event, it’s a lot of work.
“Planning for Hampton Community Day is yearlong,” Martino said. “A few weeks after this year’s event concludes, we will be planning for 2025. There are so many employees and departments within the township who help plan this event. Aside from the parks and recreation department, both the township manager and assistant manager, public works department and police department all play a big role in preparing for this event.”
Hampton Township springs for lots of entertainment on this day, and it helps to keep residents enjoying the July weather and celebrating our nation’s independence as a community.
This year, local band No Bad JuJu returns. They are a Pittsburgh favorite and will be followed by Sail On with more music.
“No Bad JuJu has performed for the past several years on Community Day and they are a great band, so we are happy to have the back again for this year,” Martino said. “We are very excited to also have Sail On, a Beach Boys tribute band, performing this year. The past few years, we have had tribute bands as our main acts, and it has been very popular, so we are looking to continue that.”
As the evening winds down, residents will once again be treated to a fireworks display by the Pittsburgh-based company Pyrotecnico.
In addition to the entertainment many vendors attend the event to sell food, drinks and other items.
“I am thankful for all the vendors who come and spend their day with us in the Hampton Community Park. We have a variety of food and community vendors that I hope everyone goes to visit while they are here on Community Day,” said Martino
Martino is also grateful for everyone who makes the event a success.
“Thank you to the Township of Hampton staff, who all work very hard throughout the year to put on a fun and safe event for our community,” she said. “Thank you to the Shaler Hampton EMS and Hampton Volunteer Fire Department for all their help they provide.
“I also want to thank our residents and guests for attending Community Day each year. There is a large crowd of people every year, no matter what the weather is like, and we are happy to provide this event for everyone to enjoy.”
