Event benefits Life Changing Service Dogs for Veterans

An event to benefit Life Changing Service Dogs for Veterans will be held June 4 at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 764, 460 Valley Brook Road, Peters Township.

The goal is to raise enough money to provide canines trained by Guardian Angels Medical Service Dogs for two veterans. Last year’s fundraiser was at 31 Sports Bar & Grille in Collier.

The event starts at 11:30 a.m., and a $5 donation is requested. Featured will be music by Kelley Jeanne, noon to 2 p.m.; J Craiger Band, 2 to 4 p.m.; Jasperillo, 4 to 6 p.m.; Mark Meyers, 6 to 8 p.m.; and Jordan McLaughlin, 8 to 10 p.m.

Also featured are 50/50 raffles every two hours and auctions of gift baskets. Food and drink will be available for purchase.

On June 21 is “Flags of the United States,” presented by Shane Miller.

All programs are open to the public. Because of covid-19, decisions on programs for the future will be made on a monthly basis.

South Hills Women’s Club plans Picnic in the Park

The South Hills Women’s Club is hosting a Picnic in the Park from 5 to 9 p.m. June 8 in the Scott Township Park Lodge.

The event is in lieu of the club’s yearly Card Party/Game Night, normally held at the Crowne Plaza Suites Pittsburgh South in Bethel Park.

Featued at the picnic will be raffle baskets, wine basket raffle, 50/50 and $2 Mystery Grab Bag raffle. Proceeds benefit Mainstay Life Services in Scott, a nonprofit that provides lifelong, high-quality support services to ensure that people with developmental disabilities lead fulfilling lives.

Tickets are $20 per person. For more information, call Joyce at 412-221-2713.
