A Hill District man pleaded guilty on Monday to stomping another man to death at his home more than three years ago.

Ramone Curry, 30, will serve 10 to 30 years in state prison for the death of Gregory Hill, 60.

Hill was assaulted on Nov. 12, 2020, inside Curry’s home on Webster Avenue in the city’s Hill District. He remained in critical condition for several weeks before dying on Jan. 17, 2021, when he was removed from life support.

Police said in the criminal complaint that they were called to the house that night and found Curry on the front steps holding a large orange ashtray, yelling at them. They described him as angry and aggressive

The front door of the house was dented, and its glass was shattered. Hill was inside, lying in a pool of blood with severe injuries to his head.

A witness told police she saw Curry standing over Hill stomping him.

Police said that Hill was dating Curry’s mother, who also lived at the residence.
