A motorist fled after jumping the curb and striking the Stage AE sign along Chuck Noll Way in the North Shore on Sunday, April 4, 2021.

The large lighted sign on the side of the Stage AE concert venue on Pittsburgh’s North Shore was heavily damaged on Sunday after a vehicle jumped the curb and crashed into the building.

The crash occurred at around 6:15 p.m. along Chuck Noll Way, police told Tribune-Review news partner WPXI-TV.

Police said a truck went over the curb and hit the sign before the driver backed up and fled the scene.

The truck left a trail of fluid on the sidewalk and there were broken vehicle parts scattered around the smashed sign.

Stage AE, in the shadow of Heinz Field, is located across the street from the Tequila Cowboy bar and restaurant.

The sign’s large AE letters are a popular selfie spot for concert-goers and people visiting the North Shore for sporting events or meals.

No injuries were reported.

Police are investigating the incident.
