The principal of Hosack Elementary School will be leaving the North Allegheny school District to join the Allegheny Intermediate Unit, according to an announcement from Dr. James M. Bradley, assistant superintendent of elementary education.

Dr. Amanda Mathieson joined North Allegheny in 2008 and has served in several roles in the district, most recently as principal of Hosack Elementary since 2013.

Mathieson stated: “I have had the pleasure of working with an amazing school community for the past eight years. The time I have had with the students, families, and staff at Hosack Elementary is invaluable and has prepared me for an opportunity to serve a wider educational community in my new position. I am grateful for my experiences at Hosack and with the North Allegheny School District and look forward to this new adventure!”

She is expected to begin her transition into her new role at the intermediate unit in January 2022, Bradley said.

The district announced Nov. 10 that Carla Hudson has been named the interim principal of Hosack Elementary effective Jan. 3, 2022. She will begin her transition to the principal’s position on Nov. 29.

Mrs. Hudson joined the district five years ago and has served as the assistant principal at McKnight Elementary School.

She received her bachelor of science in Elementary Education from Duquesne University and master of Science in Special Education from Slippery Rock University.
