Perry Highway church to hold Blessing of the Athletes

Athletes of all ages and abilities — from backyard frisbee players and round-the-block walkers, bike riders and swimmers to more experienced athletes such as 5K runners, marathoners, triathletes and professionals are welcome.

If possible, please bring a donation of a child’s bicycle helmet. They will be donated to the local United Way, which does a Bike Build event every summer to put underserved children on bikes. The helmets would go with the bikes and be handed out at the event.

Participants are asked to arrive between 1 and 1:25 p.m. Parking is available in the Nextier Bank Parking lot beside the church or across the street in the UPMC Children’s Medical Center parking lot. Masks are required.

The blessing will occur in the church parking lot at 1:30 p.m. by Pastor Tara Lynn. For directions, visit Phlc.org. The first 50 athletes will receive a gift bag.
