Halloween happenings in Bridgeville
Bridgeville’s Halloween parade is scheduled for Oct. 28, with the lineup starting at 10 a.m. on Gregg Avenue at Bridgeville Manor for judging.
The parade begins at 11 a.m. and proceeds to the Bridgeville Volunteer Fire Department, 370 Commercial St.
A trunk-or-treat event will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 30 in the Chartiers Room parking lot at the fire department, and trick-or-treat throughout Bridgeville is scheduled for the same time the following evening.
Rennerdale VFD Halloween parade
Rennerdale Volunteer Fire Department’s Halloween parade is scheduled for Oct. 28, starting at Webb Park, 11 Walnut Ave., Collier.
Registration at 12:15 p.m. is necessary for children to participate in contests. Award categories are best costume, scariest, most creative, best pet and judges’ choice.
The parade starts at 1 and features the Chartiers Valley High School Showband marching along to the fire station, 30 Suburban Ave. All children and pets must be accompanied by an adult.
Dance demonstration at library
A Native American drum and dance demonstration, presented by the Council of Three Rivers American Indian Center, is scheduled for Nov. 10 at Bridgeville Public Library, 505 McMillan St.
Dancers will demonstrate three different Native American dance styles and will discuss the history and origin of each. They will be accompanied by a drummer-singer. Featured at the library is an exhibition celebrating Native American artwork.
Doors open at 6 p.m., and the program begins at 7. Cost is $10 for ages 13 and older, $5 for ages 3 to 12 and free for children 2 and younger.

Bridgeville Area Historical Society
Bridgeville Area Historical Society will host a talk by Jean Bear on “Brick Collecting” at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 24 and by John Oyler on “Bridgeville in 1223 AD, the Monongahela Peoples” at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 28.
Programs are in the Chartiers Room at Bridgeville Volunteer Fire Department, 370 Commercial St., and are open to the public. For more information about the historical society, visit bridgevillehistory.org.
College Club meets
The College Club of Carnegie will meet Nov. 4 at Bella’s, 91 Fort Couch Road, Bethel Park.
There will be a social preceding lunch at noon. “Luncheon of Thanksgiving” will feature entertainment by jazz singer Lydia Marks.

South Hills Women’s Club
South Hills Women’s Club, in its 80th year, will meet at 8 p.m. Nov. 13 at Vanadium Woods Lobby, 50 Vanadium Road, Collier.
Following a brief meeting, guest speaker Ruth Siedle Gentile will speak about the pipe organ. Ruth is the daughter of Bill Siedle, builder of pipe organs in the South Hills, who started the Siedle Organ Co. Refreshments and dessert will be served.
