Hampton Community Library programs

• Grab-n-Go STEAM bags: Stop by each week and pickup an activity bag to get your creative juices flowing.

• Story Stroll Windows: Take a stroll past the library’s windows for stories and activities to do on your own.

• Furry Friends Storytime: Enjoy a fun and furry storytime with special guest readers Angela, Hampton’s Social Service Coordinator; and Parker and his dog handler Aug. 12 from 4:30 to 5:15 p.m. Parker will be on hand as a very attentive listener. The event is for children of all ages. Registration is requested through HCL’s website or call the library.

• Murder by the Book: A Mystery Book Discussion on Pines (Wayward Pines #1) by Blake Crouch will take place Aug. 18 at 6:30pm,. The group will meet outside at the Rotary Pavilion. Call the library to request a copy of the book. Books are no longer available at the circulation desk. Everyone who is interested is invited to join. Be prepared to wear a mask or remain 6 feet apart.

• CheckMate! A Summer Chess Club is set for Aug. 18 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for children ages 5-12. Play could last longer dependent on participation and interest. Join the event for a fun, instructive and interactive play. Whether you are a beginner or have been playing for years, there’s always something new to learn. All skill levels welcomed. Registration is appreciated but not necessary.

• News and Views is back at 1 p.m. starting Sept. 12 through Nov. 3. The popular discussion group will meet in the Adult Lounge to discuss everything from space travel to the Steelers winning the Super Bowl.

• The Library will be closed Sept. 4 for Community Day and Sept. 6 for Labor Day. Enjoy your holiday weekend.

Farmers market

The Hampton Township Farmers Market operates from 3 to 7 p.m. on Wednesdays through Oct. 13.

It features local produce, honey, baked goods, spices and a variety of other items.

Food trucks will be on site several times during the season, with notices posted on the township website.

The farmers market is located in Hampton Community Park, 3101 McCully Road.
