Dog Swim Day slated for Sept. 6

Registration opens July 31 for the township’s annual Dog Swim Day, when pool members’ furry friends can show off their best “doggie paddle.”

This year’s event will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 6. The cost is $15 per dog.

The deadline to register is Aug. 29. To register, visit the Hampton Community Center Service Desk or visit the township website at hampton-pa.org. Registration will not be available on the day of the event.

Proof of current rabies and distemperment shots are required to be shown at check-in.

For the safety and enjoyment of all dogs and owners, no people will be permitted in the pool during the event.

Shoes must be worn at all times. Owners are responsible for their dogs at all times.

Appreciation Day planned for pool members

An Appreciation Day for Hampton Community Pool members will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Aug. 13 at the pool, 3200 Lochner Way.

It’s a day filled with fun, entertainment and a sense of community spirit. For the most up-to-date information, monitor the township’s pool webpage or follow it on Facebook and Instagram.

Anyone 18 and older who has a valid 2025 pool membership will be entered to win a free membership for the 2026 season.

Sponsorship opportunities are welcome for this event and any of the township’s annual events.

Interested local businesses and organizations are encouraged to contact event coordinator Matthew Hahn at 412-487-7870, ext. 1315, or by email at matthew.hahn@hampton-pa.org.

Township seeks applications for archery season

Hampton is accepting applications for the 2025-26 archery hunting season for white-tail deer.

To qualify, prospective hunters must possess a valid hunter’s safety certificate, pass a thorough background check and successfully complete a qualification with their equipment.

Additionally, property owners interested in having their land managed by an archer may contact Sgt. Jeff Haus or Detective Thomas Adams to determine eligibility.

For more information or to submit an application, call Haus at 412-486-0400, ext. 1337, or Adams at 412-486-0400, ext. 1320.

The township appreciates the cooperation of the community in maintaining responsible and ethical wildlife management.

Overnight traffic restrictions in place through November

Work to improve Mt. Royal Boulevard in Hampton and Shaler will restrict traffic through late November, PennDOT said.

Work was scheduled to begin July 15.

There will be alternating single-lane traffic from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. weeknights between Route 8 and Grant Avenue. Daylight restrictions will take place as needed, PennDOT said.

Flaggers will guide traffic through the work zone.

A. Liberoni is the prime contractor on the $11.89 million group paving project. Improvement work includes milling and paving, drainage upgrades, shoulder repairs, guiderail updates and pavement markings.

Drivers can check conditions on major roadways online at 511pa.com. The site provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras.

Pints in the Park gatherings set through September
