Penn State Master Gardener Elaine Liberati will present a program about Hugelkulture gardening on April 25 at a 7:30 p.m. meeting of the Longvue Acres Garden Club.
In Hugelkulture gardening, a mound is constructed to create a raised bed of decaying wood debris and other compostable plant materials from is available in most landscapes. This ancient gardening technique is self-watering, self-tilling and self-fertilizing. It’s a great way to save you money.
The meeting will be at Northmont United Presbyterian Church, 8169 Perry Highway, McCandless.
The garden club’s programs are on the fourth Tuesday of the month and are free and open to the public.

Northmont United Presbyterian Church is conducting a vacation Bible school June 12-16 from 9 a.m. to noon for pre-kindergarten children through fifth grade.

AARP 595 welcomes new members and guests to its meeting on the first Tuesday of the month at 12:30 p.m. at Hampton Presbyterian Church. 2842 E. Hardies Road.
The group offers fellowship, luncheons, entertainment and trips. Next meeting is May 1. Entertainment will be provided by Cindy Steck, a ventriloquist.
