The North Park swimming pool will open June. 3. Hours of operation are 11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., weather and conditions permitting.

Admission fees are determined by age and county residency. Discounts are available for groups of 20 or more.

The Penn State Extension service is conducting a meeting June 5 to help residents learn how to identify the spotted lanternfly and help curb its spread.

The invasive insect has expanded throughout Pennsylvania since 2014, posing a threat to the state’s grape, tree fruit, hardwood and nursery industries. Economists at Penn State’s College of Agricultural Sciences have conducted research indicating that if left unchecked, the pest could potentially drain the state’s economy of at least $324 million annually and result in the loss of 2,800 jobs.

The meeting will be held from 2:30-5:30 p.m. at Parish Hill Barn, Walter Road, McCandless
