Saxonburg Octoberfest

Sprankle’s Octoberfest is returning to Saxonburg Sept. 8-10 at the Saxonburg Volunteer Fire Company Carnival Grounds.

This year marks the event’s fifth anniversary, and third year at Saxonburg VFC. The weekend kicks off 7 p.m. Sept. 7 with the Octoberfest Parade, hosted by the Saxonburg Area Business Association.

The association also is hosting Minglefest, a three-day festival as a substitute for the Saxonburg Festival of the Arts, which was canceled by the Saxonburg Council for 2023.

Free parking for with shuttle service will be available at Lernerville Speedway Sept. 8-10, with stops at Octoberfest, Minglefest on Main Street and the Saxonburg Museum.

Festival hours are 4-9 p.m. Sept 8; 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Sept. 9; and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 10.

Sealarks

Sealarks Women’s Group will meet at 4 p.m. Sept. 13 at Memorial Park Church, 8800 Peebles Road, McCandless.

The group provides Christian fellowship and social activity for women alone.

All women alone are welcome to attend and consider joining the group.

The event is the season’s Kickoff Dinner. Cost is $10 for guests and $5 for members. Please contact Karen at 412-366-3109 for information and reservations.

AARP membership drive

AARP No. 2991 meets at noon on the third Thursday of each month at Northmont Presbyterian Church, 8169 Perry Highway in McCandless.

Join the group for dessert, bingo, entertainment, socialization and more. The organization also offers trips for members.

There is a membership drive in September and October. Every visitor will receive ticket for a raffle in October. Join as a member and receive two raffle tickets.

Dues are $10 a year.
