Incumbents retain Bethel Park School Board seats

Five Bethel Park School Board members won reelection on Nov. 7, according to unofficial Allegheny County results.

Cross-filed as Democrat and Republican, James H. Modrak received 8,645 votes; Kimberly Walsh Turner, 8,175; and Darren McGregor, 8,031.

Running as Republicans, Barry Christenson, 6,628 votes, and Vincent Scalzo, 6,602, captured the final two spots.

“Thanks to Bethel Park voters for placing their confidence in my slate and I to lead the Bethel Park School District forward over the next four years,” Christenson said. “We look forward to continuing our strategic focus on leading our district, keeping academics first and representing the priorities of all Bethel Park stakeholders. We are excited to work with everyone in delivering great results for Bethel Park.”

Scalzo expressed similar gratitude.

“We have come together, united by a common vision for our community, and today, we celebrate a hard-fought victory. I am truly honored to accept your trust and support as we embark on this journey to serve the Bethel Park School District,” he said.

“First and foremost, I want to express my sincere thanks to all of you who believed in our campaign and took the time to cast your votes. Your faith in our vision for our schools and our community is humbling, and I promise not to take this responsibility lightly. Together, we have shown that when we work together, we can achieve great things,” Scalzo continued.

“Our mission going forward is clear: to ensure that every child in Bethel Park receives a high-quality education that prepares them for a bright future. We will work tirelessly to improve our schools, support our educators and provide the resources necessary to foster an environment where our children can thrive. As your elected school board member, I promise to be an advocate for our students, our teachers and our community. We will face challenges together; we will celebrate successes together; and we will always strive for excellence.”

Democrats Danielle Gosnell, 5,334 votes, and Liz Avon, 5,296, were unsuccessful in the general election.
