Three restaurant concepts have opened in Pittsburgh’s Strip District. Juniper Grill, Atria’s and 1930 Cigar Bar opened on Tuesday at 2350 Railroad St. The two restaurants and cigar lounge occupy 11,000 square feet and replace the former Italian restaurants Osteria 2350 and Cioppino.

The new establishments are operated by Restaurant Holdings LP, owned by Pittsburgh natives Pat and Nancy McDonnell. The McDonnells first announced Juniper Grill and Atria’s would open in the Strip District at a neighborhood town hall last August.

“We are always looking for the right opportunities to introduce our signature offerings to new neighborhoods. Returning to the city at such an exciting time is a significant milestone for our family. It represents another chapter in our nearly 30-year journey of serving the diverse and evolving tastes of our guests,” said Pat McDonnell in a news release on Tuesday.

Atria’s, the oldest of the three concepts, was created in 1998 when the McDonnells renovated a landmark historic building originally owned by Italian immigrant Joe Atria in Mt. Lebanon. The restaurant serves “comfort food classics with a twist,” offering dishes like steaks, pasta, burgers, seafood, according to its website. Atria’s operates another location in Peters Township. The original location relaunched as 1930 by Atria’s last year.

Juniper Grill was established in 2010 and features American cuisine “reimagined with vibrant California-inspired flavors” with a focus of freshness and seasonality. The Strip District restaurant includes a wine cellar and full bar, including a 50-bottle wine list, margaritas, bourbons and craft beer. The space offers diners indoor and outdoor seating and views through floor-to-ceiling accordion-folding windows.

1930 Cigar Bar offers premium cigars, a bar program with craft cocktails, and all-day menus serving lunch, dinner, and small plates. The lounge can also be reserved for private events.

Reservations for all three restaurants can be booked through OpenTable. A grand opening celebration is scheduled for April 1.
