According to Kennywood’s website, the park will be closed every Tuesday for the rest of the 2023 season.

Got a free Tuesday this summer? Kennywood will not be an option, beginning next Tuesday, July 11.

According to the West Mifflin park’s website calendar, Kennywood will be closed every Tuesday for the remainder of the summer season.

Park spokesperson Tasha Pokrzywa issued a statement about the change in hours of operation Thursday.

“We are always evaluating our operating schedule and are committed to optimizing our guest experience on each day we are open,” Pokrzywa said. “Idlewild & SoakZone Season Passes will be valid at its sister parks, Sandcastle and Kennywood on impacted days.”

Idlewild and SoakZone in Ligonier Township will be closed Wednesdays for the rest of the summer.

Kennywood is celebrating its quasquicentennial year — its 125th — this season. In late May, the amusement park debuted Spinvasion, the first ride of its kind in the U.S.

The park also added extra amenities this season, including a Primanti Bros. location and 1898 Coffee, with an array of coffee flavors, including Kennywood’s own blend.

On Sept. 24, 2022, three people were wounded in a shooting at the park. In April, amusement park officials met with the Allegheny County District Attorney’s office last week to address security concerns.

“The intent of the meeting and future steps is to demonstrate the shared commitment the park, law enforcement and the district attorney have to overall public safety so guests can enjoy a best-of-class entertainment experience at Kennywood,” according to a joint statement issued in April.
