Lane restrictions scheduled for Route 8 in Shaler, Etna, PennDOT announces

Traffic will be restricted on Route 8 in Shaler and Etna beginning Wednesday and continuing into November, PennDOT announced Tuesday.

Single-lane restrictions in both directions on Route 8 between Saxonburg Boulevard and Route 28 are scheduled to start about 9 p.m. Wednesday and continue around the clock through late November.

Crews from Gulisek Construction will be doing concrete joint sawing and sealing.

The work is part of a $9.14 million project in Pittsburgh, Etna and Shaler that started in August 2024. It is expected to be finished later this year.

Two weekend closures of the southbound 62nd Street Bridge are still expected as part of the project. However, they have been scheduled and canceled multiple times, and a new date had not been scheduled as of Tuesday, a PennDOT spokesman said.

Information on conditions on major roadways is available online at 511pa.com. It includes traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras.
