A fight among about two dozen people in Pittsburgh’s Homewood neighborhood escalated when two people drew handguns and starting shooting at each other.

One male, whose name or age were released, was shot in the back and was in critical condition, according to Pittsburgh Public Safety spokeswoman Cara Cruz.

Cruz said a female was shot in the foot. She was taken to a hospital in stable condition.

Police said they were drawn to the scene at about 3:15 p.m. by a ShotSpotter alert for shots fired in the 7200 block of Frankstown Avenue.

Suspect descriptions were not immediately available.

Several specialized police units are investigating.
