Pittsburgh police are investigating the cause of a vehicle-pedestrian crash Saturday evening in Lawrenceville that sent three people to the hospital.

Reported at about 6 p.m. by Pittsburgh Public Safety officials, the crash happened on Stanton Avenue, near Butler Street, and involved two pedestrians.

First responders found a female victim trapped underneath a vehicle that was on the sidewalk against the wall of Allegheny Cemetery. She was speaking with medics, who used air bags to lift the vehicle and free her.

A male pedestrian who also was struck hit the hood of the vehicle, according to Public Safety spokeswoman Cara Cruz. Both pedestrians were in stable condition and were transported for hospital treatment.

The female driver, who was alert, was taken to a hospital for evaluation, Cruz said.

Additional information wasn’t immediately available.
