Long-term restrictions planned in Jefferson Hills for construction of Mon/Fayette Expressway

A portion of Clairton Road (Route 885) in Jefferson Hills, will be restricted to one lane periodically over the next three years, as needed, for construction of the Mon/Fayette Expressway, according to PennDOT.

The traffic impact will begin Tuesday, April 25, and last until construction of this section, 53A1, ends in October 2026.

Single-lane restrictions will take place between Sunset Drive and Miller Road.

The restrictions will not occur every day and will be in place as needed.

Crews will be building a temporary roadway in the area to get around the construction zone, where a bridge will be built over the future Mon/Fayette Expressway. Once that temporary roadway is built, the lane restrictions will occur less frequently.

The lane restrictions on Clairton Road are expected to take place between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, but could stretch to 9 p.m. when needed. Saturday work is possible, too.
