Think back to those opening days of each new school year.

Maybe you remember starting kindergarten or first grade, excited about riding a big yellow bus and walking into a big brick building.

Perhaps you recall the anticipation of greeting classmates you hadn’t seen since spring, trying to finally work up the courage to talk to your latest crush.

Definitely, you recollect the start of 12th grade, that one last go-around before donning caps and gowns, celebrating at a graduation party and then heading into the world of adulthood.

OK, some of you may have memories of trudging to school on a damp, gloomy morning, wishing for that elusive Endless Summer. But let’s stay positive, like in the photos taken Aug. 22 on this year’s first day by intrepid Hampton Township School District communications specialist Zach D’Amico.

Everyone seemed to be in a sunny mood — matching the weather, bright if a bit chilly — while exiting buses, pausing before entering buildings, greeting students, walking through hallways, locating lockers and settling into classrooms.

Let the learning begin. And the memories, as well.
