Man, 35, dies after being shot in McKees Rocks residential area

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner has not yet identified the 35-year-old man shot who died soon after being shot in the 300 block of Fair Oaks Street in McKees Rocks shortly before 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 7, 2021.

A 35-year-old man was shot and killed Thursday afternoon in McKees Rocks, officials said.

The shooting happened shortly before 4:30 p.m. in a residential area on Fair Oaks Street, near Friendship Avenue and Meyers Ridge Park, according to emergency dispatchers and Allegheny County Police.

First responders arrived to find a man who had been shot in the chest. Medics took him to a nearby hospital, where he died soon after, police said shortly after 6 p.m.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the shooting victim as Brian Irby of McKees Rocks.

The county’s homicide unit is investigating the incident. Officials did not release any information about possible suspects.
