A Mt. Washington man accused of raping a Pine woman — who told police he slapped her in the face when she repeatedly refused his advances and then forced her to have sex — has been ordered to stand trial.
In September, Northern Regional Police charged Tassy Fils-Aime, 32, of the 300 block of Bingham Street, with felony counts of rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated indecent assault and sexual assault along with counts of simple assault and indecent assault.
Fils-Aime was released from custody on a $2,000 unsecured bond and ordered to appear for a preliminary hearing before District Judge William Wagner, who ordered him to stand trial on all but one of the charges, according to court records.
A felony count of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse was withdrawn during Fils-Aime’s preliminary hearing. Formal arraignment in Allegheny County Court is scheduled for Dec. 14.
A Northern Regional detective wrote in a criminal complaint that the woman reported that she was at her home along Park Place with Fils-Aime on Aug. 12 when he asked her to have sex with him and she refused.
The woman said Fils-Aime responded by slapping her in the face and asking her again. He slapped her a second time before removing her clothes and forcing himself on her, the complaint said.
Police said the woman was treated at AHN Wexford Hospital, where staff also collected a rape kit.
The woman’s medical records showed that she suffered bruises to her arm and waist from being held while she was being sexually assaulted, the complaint said.
