An argument that started Friday morning in a Homestead store ended with one man being shot in the leg and the other being taken to jail.

Homestead police were dispatched shortly before 11 a.m. to the 100 block of East 8th Avenue after several 911 callers reported that a man had been shot.

Police said the man was arguing inside a store with a second man, who they later identified as Chuck Binion, Jr. Police have not named the victim or the store where the argument started.

The two men mutually agreed to leave the business and fight on the sidewalk, police said.

Binion, 41, of Penn Hills, then shot the other man in the leg, police said. Authorities did not say what led to the initial argument.

First responders took the gunshot victim to an area hospital in stable condition.

Police charged Binion with attempted homicide, two counts of aggravated assault and one count of recklessly endangering another person.

The alleged shooter was taken Friday to the Allegheny County Jail, where was awaiting arraignment, police said.

Binion’s attorney was not listed Friday in court records.
