A man died after he was shot in the head Sunday afternoon in Bloomfield, police said.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner identified the man early Monday morning as Alexander Yerkey, 26, of Bethel Park.

Pittsburgh police said the ShotSpotter system registered several alerts about 2:35 p.m. in the area of Corday Way and Pearl Street.

When first responders arrived, they found a man who had been shot in the head.

He was taken by EMS to an area hospital in critical condition. The medical examiner said Yerkey died shortly before 7 p.m. at a hospital.

Police found Lukas Kislak, 33, of Braddock on Penn Avenue after the shooting. He was arrested and taken to the Allegheny County Jail.

Police said they also recovered a firearm.

Police charged Kislak with criminal homicide, discharge of a firearm into an occupied structure, and other firearm related charges. He was denied bail during an arraignment Monday and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on April 12.

Police said that a nearby house sustained ballistic damage, and casings were found on the scene.

A nearby house also sustained some damage from bullets and casings were located at the scene.

The city’s Violent Crime Unit is investigating.
