A man has died as a result of a shooting early Saturday morning in Pittsburgh’s Woods Run neighborhood, Pittsburgh police said.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner identified the man as Donald Hammond, 31, of Pittsburgh. He died at Allegheny General Hospital.

Three men were taken to police headquarters for questioning, police said.

Police were responding to reports of multiple gunshots shortly before 2 a.m. in the 1300 block of McClure Avenue when they saw the victim in the backseat of a sport utility vehicle. The vehicle sped off to an area hospital, as city police said officers gave chase.

At the hospital, they found Hammond had a critical gunshot wound and they began cardio pulmonary resuscitation.

The department’s crime scene unit processed evidence at the scene of the shooting and at the hospital. Detectives from the major crimes unit are continuing an investigation, police said.
