Pittsburgh police responded early Monday to reports of a shooting on the city’s North Shore and found a male who had been shot twice.

The man was transported by EMS to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The Allegheny County Office of the Medical Examiner identified the victim as Prentis Hutchinson, 35, of Avalon.

Police arrived at about 1:30 a.m. to the area near Anderson and East General Robinson streets, about two blocks from PNC Park and a block from the Andy Warhol Museum.

The VCU and MCU police units processed the scene.

The investigation is ongoing, according to police.

The shooting follows a month of more than a dozen shootings within the city. According to police, there were 18 shootings in July, including one ruled accidental/self-inflicted.

As of the end of July, there were 39 reported homicides in the city of Pittsburgh in 2022.
