Man found dead after North Versailles shooting; suspect shoots himself

One man is dead and the suspect in his death is in the hospital after an overnight incident in North Versailles.

Allegheny County 911 received a call about a shooting in North Versailles around 11:15 p.m. Tuesday night.

First responders found Travis George Sanner, 38, dead at the scene in the 500 block of Rustic Road. Police did not say how he died, but the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office described it as suspected gunshot wounds.

When responding officers from the North Versailles police department encountered the 40-year old suspect fleeing in the 300 block of Rustic Road, he ran from them and police saw him shoot himself in the head.

Police say that after the suspect shot himself, medics took him to the hospital and he is expected to survive.

No names have been released. Allegheny County homicide detectives are investigating.
