Pittsburgh Public Safety officials announced the arrest of a man wanted for the murder of a Pittsburgh man Dec. 26 in the city’s Marshall-Shadeland neighborhood.

Police arrested Ambrose J. Sample Jr., 42, at about 2 p.m. Tuesday along the 200 block of Dinwiddie Street in the Hill District, according to Public Safety spokeswoman Amanda Mueller.

Sample is charged in the death of 36-year-old Corey Washington, who was found shot along 3300 block of Brighton Road and later died at a hospital. Police said the shooting may have occurred at a nearby business.

Charges include criminal homicide, persons not to possess a firearm and carrying a firearm without a license.

Sample was taken to the Allegheny County Jail.

Mueller said the arrest was made possible through a joint effort by the U.S. Marshals Western PA Fugitive Task Force, Pittsburgh SWAT and Pittsburgh Fugitive Apprehension Unit.
