A Wilkinsburg man wanted for murder in connection with a fatal shooting in the borough was apprehended in Florida, federal authorities announced Tuesday.
Harvey Scott, 37, was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Florida Regional Task Force near Miami after a brief foot chase.
He is charged with homicide, possession of firearms prohibited and carrying firearms without a license.
Charges stem from a shooting of Deglin St. Clair, 18, of Pittsburgh’s Larimer neighborhood June 18.
St. Clair was shot along the 1700 block of Wilkinsburg’s Wesley Street shortly before 5:30 p.m., according to an Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office report.
The victim was taken to UPMC Mercy hospital, where he later died.
Federal authorities said Scott was also wanted by the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections for a parole violation warrant from a 2015 homicide that occurred in the Homewood section of Pittsburgh.
Authorities said the arrest was made possible through cooperative investigative efforts between the U.S. Marshals Western Pennsylvania Fugitive Task Force, Allegheny County Police, the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office, the state Attorney Generals Enforcement Administration, the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and Pittsburgh police.
