Man's body recovered in Allegheny River
Pittsburgh River Rescue recovered the body of an adult male from the Allegheny River on Sunday afternoon.
According to Pittsburgh police, River Rescue was dispatched to the 9th Street/Rachel Carson Bridge around 2:30 p.m. for reports of a male seen going into the water.
Witnesses said the male entered from the Downtown side of the Allegheny River.
Two boats and three divers with River Rescue responded. The divers made four dives before recovering the body.
The man, whose identity has not yet been released, was pronounced dead at 3:50 p.m., police said.
The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s office will determine cause and manner of death.
