Marshall meeting to address Route 910 plans
Ideas and plans for the Route 910 corridor in Marshall will be discussed at a public meeting at 7 p.m. Aug. 20 at the township municipal building, 525 Pleasant Hill Road.
“This meeting will be an opportunity for residents to hear the latest, accurate information about the zoning ordinance update process and to contribute their feedback to help shape the zoning ordinance update, particularly as it relates to the 910 corridor,” said Julie Bastianini, township manager.
The meeting is part of the township’s Zoning and Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance, or SALDO, revision process.
“Following a key strategy of the comprehensive plan, Marshall Township is undergoing an ordinance update to ensure goals and objectives are reflected in land use policy,” Bastianini said.
The steering committee is made up of resident volunteers appointed by the board of supervisors to advise the ordinance update process and provide direction. The meeting will focus on land use policy along Route 910.
The intent of these updates of the zoning ordinance provides for greater clarity and predictability for developers and property owners, including setting clear guidelines for land use and development, according to the 2022 Marshall comprehensive plan.
The ordinance update was set to be done over a 15-month period, beginning in February 2023, but is running behind the initial timeline, according to Bastianini.
A Route 910 stakeholder meeting took place in fall of 2023, held by the township during the creation of the comprehensive plan. Approximately 35 residents attended, including 14 property owners with access onto the road. Their main concerns were traffic, noise and safety.
