McCandless has been named a 2023 Banner Community for the 11th time.

County Executive Rich Fitzgerald and the Allegheny League of Municipalities made the announcement April 11.

McCandless has been a Banner Community in each of the 11 years of the program, which recognizes municipalities and municipal authorities that show a commitment to professional development, prudent fiscal management, transparency, accountability, and proactive communications to engage the community.

This year’s class included 84 different entities, including 10 municipalities and one authority being recognized for the first time.

Multi-year Banner Communities are Marshall Township and Franklin Park.

“It is extremely fitting that we recognize our Banner Communities, and particularly their elected and appointed officials who have dedicated their lives to their local communities and work each day on behalf of their residents and businesses,” Fitzgerald said in a statement.
