Monroeville man charged with homicide in the slaying of Carrick man on New Year's Eve
A Monroeville man has been charged with homicide and other crimes after he allegedly shot and killed a man on New Year’s Eve in Carrick.
Timothy Debold, 43, also faces charges of burglary, carrying a firearm without a license and persons not to possess firearms in connection with the Dec. 31 fatal shooting of Lonnell Newkirk, 44, along Maytide Street.
According to the criminal complaint, Debold parked a 2020 Honda CRV on Belplain Street, went over to Maytide Street, shot Newkirk in the chest and ran back to the vehicle.
Witnesses told police that Newkirk told them “Ticc shot me,” the complaint read.
Witnesses searched social media and found Debold uses “Ticc” as a username.
Police said they searched through Debold’s Facebook and Instagram, which had the username “carricgoonticc,” and identified his girlfriend, who owns the car matching the one seen leaving the crime scene.
Police said the vehicle can be seen on surveillance footage circling the area in front of the victim’s home before the shooting.
Cameras inside the Liberty Tunnel and Squirrel Hill Tunnel also show the vehicle driving away from the scene shortly after the first 911 call, the complaint read.
Debold was arrested Jan. 9 on a warrant for an unrelated case.
