Five children and three adults were taken to local hospitals after a crash Monday morning between a Gateway school bus and another vehicle, school officials said.

First responders were called to Monroeville Boulevard near the entrance to Target around 8:30 a.m. The bus collided with an SUV, which overturned.

Gateway officials said five students aboard the bus were taken to Forbes Hospital as a precautionary measure. Assistant Superintendent Dennis Chakey also told WTAE that three adults, all with non-life-threatening injuries, were transported for treatment and evaluation.

“Gateway administrators were on the scene of the accident and accompanied the students to the hospital,” school district officials told TribLive in a statement. “The students, thankfully, did not sustain any significant injuries.”

The crash is under investigation.
